2017 Summer Programs with Financial Aid

Arts@Work HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP + STUDIO ART PROGRAM Join this year-long program that introduces local high school students to professional internships and employment in the arts. Participants are provided an opportunity to express themselves through art in a positive environment while creating collaboratively and gaining experience in making public art to enhance their community. The UMaine Pulp & Paper Foundation's "Consider Engineering" program is offered three times in July to groups of 34 high school students who have completed their junior year of study and who are well-suited to becoming engineers. The four-day, free of charge, on-campus "camp" gives students opportunities to experience the rewards and challenges of both college life and technical careers. Students participate in about 20 activities and are introduced to nearly two dozen UMaine faculty, engineers and engineering students. Admission to the program is competitive with about 2/3 of the applicants being selected to participate.

Carnegie Mellon University – Summer Academy for Mathematics and Science The Summer Academy for Mathematics and Science is a six-week rigorous residential experience for high school seniors who have a strong interest in computer science, engineering and natural sciences. The summer academy's goal is to equip students with essential skills necessary for successful completion of STEM majors.

QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program: The 2017 College Prep Scholars Program application will open in mid-February. The QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program gives outstanding low-income high school juniors an early advantage in college admissions.
College Prep Scholars are uniquely prepared to gain admission and full scholarships to top-tier colleges through QuestBridge. The majority are also selected as Finalists for the National College Match. Being selected as a College Prep Scholar is a notable distinction that celebrates your achievements and gives you an early start in applying to college.
